I am setting some goals for this week, too. (Actual achievable goals, not just a huge list that is more like a menu---for a NYC diner that serves nearly everything!) 1. meaningful daily devotional life
2. practice and study music every day
3. healthy food and at least one form of exercise most days
4. sort/toss/organize at least a corner of my life most days

Please keep me accountable. (I'm writing these down in hard copy, too.) I was happily surprised by the email.

My goals have been mostly short-term thus far this year (a concert, a birthday party, a meeting, or sometimes just getting better from some pesky gunk). Some of my non-musical creative endeavors have been quite enjoyable: basic knitting projects, card-making, and tonight trying a recipe for pecan chocolate chip cookies that are quite good (from Judy Rosenbaum's big no-holds-barred cookie book). My teaching goals continue to involve sparking the student's own interest and ownership of their singing, both in practice and in performance.
My devotional life is daily, but some days get more time and energy than others. Writing in my journal about it all helps, even if just lists, quotes, and observations that help me to process what has been going on.
I'm doing Beth Moore's SIESTA SISTERS SCRIPTURE MEMORY CHALLENGE this year, too. Maybe I need to find someone to ask me every week as you have done, "What are your goals for this week? How did you meet last week's?"
Thanks, Lillian---Jennifer Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577716003381032251.post-73110414259448681252013-01-11T12:27:16.035-05:002013-01-11T12:27:16.035-05:00Hello, Lillian! I've just finished the English Standard Version of the Bible, and am casting about for what translation to read in 2012.
Your "course corrections" make sense to me---I am just about ready to make some, too. I am thankful to God for you, Lillian, and all your giftedness which you share so willingly. --JenniferAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577716003381032251.post-1026041039290440972011-11-19T08:45:01.645-05:002011-11-19T08:45:01.645-05:00Very funny situation, but only in hindsite. :)Very funny situation, but only in hindsite. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8577716003381032251.post-80533383927340412222011-07-30T23:53:35.885-04:002011-07-30T23:53:35.885-04:00Thanks for the suggestions, Jennifer! Also, a treasury of mysteries (Poirot, Perry Mason, Maigret)....and Patter Triple the Scraps, whose faith journaling questions I think you might enjoy.
